About Grader Shims

Product Story

The shim principle started as a problem with our grader, we had difficulty getting the right balance on the blade and blade circle to allow proper calibration of our laser equipment, adjustments were made, new poles fitted and strengthened but nothing was as stable as we would like.

Craig Harris; company founder/designer and grader operator, came up with an idea to place something behind the wear pads to stabilise the blade, after several different prototypes the current shim design was born.

That was 5 years ago. We have since had the shims in his grader, under test and found no complications nor have had to change the design. We have changed the material only to make them more user friendly and also more rust resistant.
A couple of bonus's:

  1. We have found is that we have extended the wear pad life by a considerable amount giving owner a significant cost saving.
  2. The blade circle unadjusted therefore it remains at manufacturers specifications, no complicated re-centering needed.

We now have them in about 10 graders with testimonials on their ease of use and time saving coming in from both operators and owners. Position Partners makers of Top Con Laser guidance systems are now recommending the shim kits to John Deere Owners to enhance their systems and make operators jobs easier.

The Kit comprises 63 shims 3 per wear pad 2@ 1mm and 1@ .7mm allow a combination can be used depending on the amount of wear. They also come in a hard reusable case to store your shims for future use once new wear pads are inserted

Since i bought your circle shims i have found it very easy to keep the blade circle tight on my grader and I can do it on my own in a very short space of time and without to much effort, certainly makes my life easier.
